For sale is a 1957 Gibson GA-5 Skylark, serial 15425, a classic narrow-panel Gibson tube combo.
This amp retains its original transformers and its original Jensen DP-ALNICO-5 “Concert Speaker” with original factory cone, which is a major value and tone driver. Speaker codes date correctly to 1957.
Tubes are vintage types and include a UK-made 5Y3GT rectifier (period-correct replacement, likely Brimar). This is the correct rectifier type for the GA-5.
Cosmetically, the amp shows honest wear consistent with age. Please note the following non-original modifications:
- Drilled holes in the rear cabinet panel
- Simplified single-input configuration
These modifications are cosmetic/functional only and are reflected in the price. The front panel, grille cloth, cabinet covering, handle, and hardware are all period-correct.
The amp sounds excellent — warm, dynamic, and responsive, exactly what these early GA-5s are known for.
