For sale, a fantastic opportunity to own this beautiful pre-war 1937 Gibson L7, Serial #: 95322

This gorgeous piece of history is (Apart from a pro re-fret) in all original condition and comes with its original plush-lined case. Plays beautifully well, with a lovely straight neck and ultra-low action, and is fitted with a rare 'adapted' DeArmond "Guitar Mike," neck pickup, often referred to as the FHC, that has been adapted to fit at the end of the fingerboard, rather than on the vertical support rod, it has its volume control discreetly fitted under the pick guard. It has been thoroughly Black Light tested, and there has been just one upper shoulder crack that has been repaired, and it’s not progressive. Fitted with flat-wound strings.

Body size at lower bout: 17", Scale length: 24 3/4", Nut Width: 1 11/16"

Finish: Cremona sunburst finish, nitrocellulose lacquer.

Materials: Solid hand-carved maple back, sides and neck; hand-carved bookmatched solid spruce top; Brazilian rosewood fingerboard and compensated bridge, ornate mother of pearl "picture frame" fingerboard inlays; older fat script Gibson peghead logo with "vase and curlicue" inlay; bound body, bound fingerboard and headstock.

Hardware: Original nickel hardware includes 'diamond' trapeze tailpiece; adjustable Brazilian rosewood compensated bridge; nickel Grover Sta-Tite tuners; adjustable truss rod, bound tortoise pickguard.

The L-7 was Gibson's most popular 17" guitar, with the same size, scale and materials as the L-5. Interestingly, the L-7 of this era had a much more ornate inlay pattern than its spendier cousin. This example showcases the diamond' trapeze tailpiece, shallower arch, and smaller f-holes of the pre-war 17" 'Advanced Model' bodies.

The gentle C neck profile is very comfortable, distinctly slimmer than the full necks found on later examples, with a smooth, low action. The voice of the X-braced soundboard is notably open, even, and warmly resonant, with excellent sustain and superior bass response, making it great for chord melody, vocal backup, fingerstyle playing, or recording.
