Up for sale is a well-loved and road-ready 1969 Gibson SG Special, a true player’s guitar with that unmistakable late-‘60s Gibson tone and feel. This SG has all the character you’d expect from a vintage instrument, paired with professional repairs that make it reliable on stage or in the studio.
This model features:
- P-90 pickups for that classic, raw, and articulate Gibson tone
- Slim taper neck profile, comfortable and fast
- Cherry finish with beautiful vintage fading and checking
- Wraparound tailpiece, as it should be
Condition Details:
This guitar has been played and shows signs of its 50+ years, but it's structurally solid and ready to go.
- The tuners were changed by a previous owner. Unfortunately, the new screw holes caused hairline splits in the headstock wings. These splits were professionally repaired by a skilled luthier and are now stable and secure.
- The bridge system has had some work done and is not the original.
- On the back of the neck heel, there are two small dowel imprints. These suggest the neck heal has been repaired at some point in its life. The repair was well executed — the neck is straight, the action is great, and it plays beautifully up and down the board.
- Normal wear and finish checking throughout, consistent with a vintage instrument of this era.
- The case this comes with is a more modern Gibson case with some broken latches
This guitar is not a museum piece — it’s a vintage workhorse with stories to tell and years of life left in it.
