Description

Offered for sale is a beautiful 1977 Rhodes Mark I Suitcase 88, complete with its original FR 7710 stereo amplifier and speaker cabinet.

This instrument has a remarkable two-owner history. It was purchased brand new by its original owner, who kept it for decades before gifting it directly to me. It has never passed through a succession of owners, dealers, or unknown hands.

Nearly 50 years later, it remains in exceptional playing condition.

Everything works beautifully.

All 88 keys have been individually tested and are fully functional. The sustain pedal operates perfectly, the stereo vibrato works as intended, and the original amplifier delivers that unmistakable warm, rich Rhodes sound.

From delicate, bell-like upper-register tones to the wonderfully expressive growl of the lower keys, this piano sounds absolutely gorgeous.

Cosmetic condition

The instrument has been carefully cleaned while preserving its original vintage character.

The black exterior covering shows some light fading, surface scuffs, and a few small areas of wear consistent with its age. I have deliberately avoided refinishing or attempting to conceal these imperfections.

The instrument presents beautifully and retains the authentic appearance of a well-preserved vintage Rhodes.

A note on its history:

One of the most appealing aspects of this piano is its provenance. It was purchased new by its original owner and remained in that person's possession until being gifted to me.

It is increasingly uncommon to find a complete vintage Rhodes Suitcase 88 with such a straightforward ownership history, its original amplifier, and all primary functions operating properly.

Demonstration and pickup:

A playing demonstration is available for serious buyers - I can also send you a link to a video.

The instrument is located in Stratford, Ontario, Canada.

Local pickup is strongly preferred, given the substantial size and weight of the piano and amplifier. Buyers are welcome to arrange professional transportation at their own expense, with any cooperation needed from me.

Please feel free to reach out with questions or requests for additional photographs.

This is a beautiful, fully playable piece of electric piano history, ready to be enjoyed by its next owner.
