For your consideration is a 2010 Gibson Custom Shop VOS "1958 Les Paul Standard " R8 reissue plain top in Washed Cherry .This guitar is a gently used instrument in excellent cosmetic and sonic condition for a 16 yrs old specimen. The pics support that this is stock , all original specifications (the only change was swapping the original bonnet knobs (included) for the Gibson reflector knobs (included) . The guitar is not a collectors piece for those wanting a case queen in unplayed condition . It has some surface scratches , swirls and a few small dings given its age as a played instrument.
However, it was very well cared for since purchased at G- Brats (near Dallas Texas ). First off is the sweet spot weight at 8.5 lbs (8 lbs 8 ounces as indicated in scale weight pic) . Included in the sale package : all hangs tags, certificate of authenticity from the 2010 purchase. I also have for the record an email confirmation of the guitars' authenticity confirmed by Gibson Consumer support . The Custom branded case is in near mint condition without any scratches , dings , missing tolex , no unstitching or funky issues (locking keys included) The rosewood fingerboard is pristine shape, regularly maintained and without wear digs into the fretboard. The frets have minimal wear throughout without any issues to disclose. The BB1 pup (neck) measures 7.48 ohms , BB2 pup (bridge) comes in at 7.98 ohms . The middle position comes in at 3.86 ohms . All in all , a great vintage sweet spot balance set proving that the factory wiring is still flawless. The volume and tone pots do not have any scratchy crackle or noise issues. Included a pic with the pick guard removed so that the 'no pickguard ' look is worthy to expose this normally covered . So no finish concerns here and blending in with the rest of the top's is in order.
You can bid with confidence as I strive providing/disclosing all the info I can think of by putting myself in buyers driving seat as a guitarist. This is an important investment and I want the potential buyer to feel confident in the purchase to grasp the value of this particular instrument and want to demonstrate care and pride about the gear presented for sale at Music Muse Boutique. The instrument will be carefully packaged with a Gibson branded guitar box for secure carrier handling . FYI the 'buy it now' will lock in so that this one doesn't get away, however reasonable offers will be considered .
FREE SHIPPING available in Canada ( except in Nunavut, Northwest Territories, Yukon, and remote postal codes with a '0' as the second digit. These areas will need actual quotes where I can still provide a discount but cannot absorb the full cost, so please provide Postal Code so that we can work together to get this in your hands ) . Thanks for checking in.Cheers!
From the Gibson tech sheet for the R8 model:
1958 LES PAUL STANDARD Vintage Original Spec New In an effort to jump start the steadily declining sales of the Les Paul Model, Gibson abandoned the familiar gold finish and used a translucent, cherry sunburst finish which showed off the figured maple tops that were often used on Les Pauls. The renamed Les Paul Standard made its debut in 1958. Now part our proprietary new Vintage Original Spec series - the next step in our journey toward perfection.
