Kingsley Kingsley Hatchet Valve Phase Splitter Pedal

The Hatchet is a valve (12ax7 in this case) phase splitter in a pedal. A phase splitter is an integral part of the power amplifier in a push-pull valve (tube) amp. Pretty much all guitar tube amps that have more than one power tube are push-pull designs. If a tube amp has only one power tube then it is not a push-pull power amp and is what is called a "single-ended" design (for example a Fender Champ). There are also a very small number of tube amps that have two or more power tubes, that use something called a parallel single ended circuit. In any case, it is only the push-pull amps that use (or need) a phase splitter circuit. Some examples of push-pull amps include the Fender Princeton, Deluxe, Super and Twin reverb (basically all Fender amps that do not have a single output tube), the Vox AC10, 15 and 30, the Marshall JTM45 and Super Lead, the Mesa Boogie Mark series amps, Dual Rectifier.....and on and on and on. The vast majority of amps that are over 5W are push-pull amps
