I am offering a Gibson Explorer T Heritage Cherry from 2016, a handcrafted in Nashville, Tennessee (USA), luxury version of the Gibson Explorer featuring solid mahogany body (weighing 3.78kg total), set mahogany neck with SlimTaper neck profile and 43mm Tektoid nut, premium rosewood fingerboard with acrylic dot inlays and 22 medium frets, two powerful Gibson 496R and 496T humbucker pickups, as well as Grover Mini Rotomatics tuners in a semi-transparent cherry nitrocellulose high-gloss finish with 3-ply white pickguard and chrome hardware in mint condition, including brown Gibson luxury hardshell case, manufacturer’s paperwork, and professional setup with 10-46 Ernie Ball strings.

This 2017 Gibson Explorer T pays homage to the legendary Explorer models of the ’50s and combines traditional specifications with modern extras, select tonewoods, high-quality hardware, and outstanding U.S. craftsmanship. The result is an Explorer on steroids!

Like the originals from the ’50s, this Gibson Explorer T features a non-weight reduced solid mahogany body tailored to the angular profile of this distinctive design, as well as a one-piece mahogany neck in a set-neck construction topped with a thick rosewood fingerboard. The guitar already resonates incredibly well acoustically and, when amplified, produces the rich, warm Explorer tone with excellent sound projection. This is further enhanced by a thin, semi-transparent cherry nitrocellulose high-gloss finish, which is beautifully showcased alongside the gleaming chrome hardware, the matching 3-ply white pickguard, and the traditionally angled “hockey stick” headstock featuring a Gibson logo inlay made of mother-of-pearl.

Sonically, the pair of Gibson 496R and 496T humbucker pickups—featuring ceramic magnets and high winding counts—deliver the powerful, assertive Explorer tone, which, with its characteristic bite and depth, strikes the ideal balance between traditional blues sounds and charged rock tones, all the way through to heavy metal.

A sound sample of this model can be found above at the end of the photo gallery.

The slim SlimTaper neck profile, combined with the 43mm-wide Tektoid nut, fits comfortably in the hand, and together with the 628mm scale length, it results in smooth playability.

In short: If you’re looking for a Gibson Explorer that impresses in terms of tone, playability, and looks—and you’re not willing to skimp on the instrument—this is the complete package!

The Gibson Explorer T Cherry is no longer manufactured in this configuration.

This guitar is in absolutely mint condition and technically flawless. It also shows virtually no visible wear (see photos). The frets are flawless.

The instrument has been professionally set up with 10-46 Ernie Ball strings, and I (a long-time guitar teacher) will ship it fully insured with DHL (due to the case’s oversized dimensions, including an oversize surcharge) for €69.99 within Germany or for €99.99 within the EU. Worldwide shipping is available—individual shipping costs upon request.
