Circuits across models such as the Deluxe Reverb, Super Reverb, Vibrolux Reverb, and Twin Reverb were reworked, introducing the now famous blackface designs that delivered tighter low end, greater clean headroom, and a clearer overall response. The Vibroverb was part of this shift, moving to a single 15 inch speaker format that gave the amplifier a broader low end and a spacious feel compared to Fender’s dual speaker combos. This 1964 example retains its original AB763 tube chart, confirming it as part of Fender’s golden-era blackface production. The tube complement, including a GZ34 rectifier, dual 6L6GC power tubes, and a combination of 12AX7, 12AT7, and 7025 preamp valves, is fully consistent with mid-1960s Vibroverb specification. It is fitted with the optional and rare factory JBL 15 inch speaker. These speakers were offered as an upgrade at the time and were prized for their efficiency, clarity, and additional headroom, allowing the amplifier to stay clean longer while retaining definition and punch. With around 40 watts of power the Vibroverb sits in a very practical range for both stage and studio use. It delivers strong clean headroom, lush spring reverb, and the smooth tremolo circuit Fender amplifiers are known for. The large speaker helps the amp fill a room easily while keeping notes clear and balanced, making it a particularly strong recording amplifier.Over the years Vibroverbs have found their way into the rigs of players such as Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jeff Buckley, John Mayer, Jack White, and Dan Auerbach. They remain highly regarded not only as great sounding working amplifiers but also as increasingly desirable pieces of Fender history. This example presents in great condition and delivers the rich, spacious tone that has made the Vibroverb such a favourite among players and collectors alike.Comes with period correct leather protective cover.Specs:Year: 1964Power: 40 wattsSpeaker: Optional factory JBL 15 inch speakerTubes: GZ34 rectifier, 2 x 6L6GC power tubes, 12AX7, 12AT7, 7025 preamp tubesChannels: Normal and VibratoReverb: Tube driven spring reverbTremolo: Tube drivenControls: Volume, treble, bass, reverb, speed, intensityMade in: Fullerton, California, USA
