Here we have an ORIGINAL Wurlitzer EP200A electric piano, complete with original steel legs and matched sustain pedal. Made in USA (Logan factory in Ohio/1975), Its one of the first EP200A produced. The rail is a converted/crossover EP200 one; the speaker basic plates are still there. It runs @ 220/240Vac via a standard IEC (kettle) socket. EP has had KKGB "pro" service, and has been properly voiced and tuned. Note original 200A refurbed amplifier, with correct fuses and suppressor etc (and safe/PAT tested). Check underneath to see the aux out 1/4" socket and the headphone socket (which defeats the lid-mounted speakers when any jack is inserted). THIS EP was sourced from Somerset; it was collected still wrapped in the original Wurlitzer carton from Ohio, with all the stencils on it ( "music for millions" was a marketing slogan). .....it was built by a guy called "wilburn", on August 12 1975... I have never seen a name before on the date stamp!.....Purchased from a London music store ( long gone...), and had the same UK owner for 51 years. EP has NOT been thrashed/gigged......Free Orchid passive traffo kills the inherent mains hum. Free (mainland) UK delivery is also included.

Photos show the actual instrument. Its a bit of a find, really. It has NOT been thrashed, so the action parts and reeds have many more years of music-making left, for sure. On first power up, KKGB were hugely impressed as to how quiet this EP amplifier is; and it certainly plays well. Music stand can be a gloss RED one, or a conservative silver one (none shown)...your choice. Attached video shows a similar piano, just to illustrate how playable KKGB EP pianos always are.......

The iconic sound of the Wurlitzer® Electric Piano has ruled the airwaves for over half a century. The “Wurli” was made from 1954 to the early 1980s. Designed for gigging musicians, the 200A was released in 1974 and had an updated amp and speaker design over its predecessor, the model 200. The tone comes from steel reeds – small blades that were struck by the hammers of a real piano action. When they wear out and drift out of tune, the reeds are tuned by adding drops of solder to the tip and filing it off until the pitch is right.

The single Internal pickup routes the sound to the self-contained original 17 watt amplifier (KKGB guaranteed for 5 years).

Among the many artists who have famously used the original 200A are Supertramp, Elton John, Pink Floyd, Beautiful South (Perfect Ten), Roxy Music, Hot Chocolate (You Sexy Thing) and each of the Beatles in their solo careers (Someone's knocking at the door), and Steely Dan. Just like the 140Bs, vintage 200As are still sought after today by musicians and collectors alike. James Bay, Lewis Capaldi, Kaiser Chiefs and Abbey Road Studios, RAK studios, Crypt studios all enjoy and use KKGB Wurlitzer pianos. Jesus Christ/Superstar is now running at London Palladium <> resident band use a KKGB EP200 piano (with a spare one, just in case...).

Sounds like? John Deacon wrote "You're my Best Friend"...and also played the Wurlitzer on the recording of it, also "Lazy Sunday Afternoon" by The Small Faces will give you an idea of how a decent EP200A should sound....."Perfect Ten" by The Beautiful South is another great example...and Hot Chocolate usually had a Wurlitzer chugging around on many of their hits ( You Sexy Thing, you....)

Beware purchasing unserviced EP200A pianos. Chances are that they have not been serviced in 50 years. They can be lethal (they do run @ 230Vac), the reeds/action parts/keys may be in need of replacement/service/worn out/tuning & voicing.....Reeds are never covered by warranty. They are like spark plugs (remember them?) in cars with engines (remember them?).

UK price is a reasonable £4500, including free UK (mainland) delivery. Sale is via HMRC VAT margin scheme. No VAT may be reclaimed.

Export price is £3999. KKGB ship (nearly) worldwide. Tell us where you are. Speedy send-quote will appear (at cost, on a pallet).
