The K2661 is built around Kurzweil's V.A.S.T. (Variable Architecture Synthesis Technology) engine — a deep, highly regarded synthesis system that lets you shape and layer sounds with a level of control most keyboards of this era can't match. It's one of the reasons the K2 series still has such a loyal following.

This unit also includes expansion ROMs that significantly broaden the sound library:
