Up for grabs or trade is this rare example of a 1962 Fender Studio Deluxe Lap Steel Guitar, in Desert Sand with original hard shell case. Local Pickup Calgary, Alberta.

This lap steel is in great condition with some moderate wear visible throughout. Fully functional, plays and sounds great! Legs are mint, original hard shell case is in excellent condition, save for some corrosion / patina on the clasps. Serial number 8237.

There is paint deterioration, scratches, and dents equivalent to ageing and playing.

In the 1940s, Rickenbacker was a major player in lap steel guitars, and L. Fender, who learned how to make lap steel guitars from Rickenbacker, started selling guitars in sets with his own amplifiers.

Fender amplifiers became popular for their crisp, crisp sound, while the guitars that came as a set also gained popularity.

The sound was crisp and powerful, with a single coil pickup similar to Rickenbacker's.

The guitar was made of grained wood, which was a big difference from Rickenbacker, and it is believed that the fact that it was lightweight and inexpensive was a major factor in its popularity.

The popularity and technology gained here were passed down to the Telecaster and Precision Bass, and as you know, it developed into the well-known Fender company today.
