The Epoch Bias models a legendary EP-3 unit’s preamp with all of the Epoch Boost’s reverent sonic detail. Catalinbread then adds new controls: a wide-ranging high-cut filter and a Bias control. The high-cut filter facilitates tasty tone refinements, and musicians find it an invaluable option when frequently changing guitars or running long signal chains. The Bias control behaves almost like a gain knob, thus remedying the fixed gain structure of the vintage EP-3. Together with familiar Preamp and Boost parameters for skyscraping headroom and pristine buffering, the new controls found on the Epoch Bias deliver ultra-versatile boost and preamp options, not to mention fine-tuned color enhancement that readily takes the sound of any pickup, amplifier, or effects chain from good to great.
