AK Drums has been involved in the production of numerous collaboration and anniversary models for Craviotto, as well as the Ludwig 100th Anniversary "Gold Triumphal" snare drum. Their exceptional technical skills and dedication to sound have earned them high praise from drummers and collectors worldwide.

Adrian Kirchler, who leads AK Drums, is a master builder specializing in metal shells such as brass and copper. He has spent many years collecting and restoring vintage drums, and has refined the knowledge and experience gained from this research into his unique manufacturing techniques.

This model employs a traditional shell structure seen in vintage drums from the 1920s to the 1940s. By using a "soldered bearing edge," where the folded edge of the shell is soldered to the body, the overall rigidity of the shell is increased while achieving rich harmonics and a warm sound.

Its level of perfection has been proven in the Craviotto Diamond Series and numerous limited edition models. The sound, which combines excellent responsiveness to delicate touches, rich harmonic content, and a powerful presence, blends the charms of vintage and modern styles at a high level.

What is the Dresdner Type?

Founded in 1924, Dresdner Apparatebau is a prestigious manufacturer that continues to carry on the traditional percussion instrument making techniques that are deeply rooted in the Dresden region of Germany. Adrian of AK Drums holds deep respect for this history and philosophy and is working to revive the Dresdner style for the modern era.

It employs a 0.8mm copper shell and is equipped with a traditional Dresdner bearing edge. Furthermore, the distinctive Dresdner-type hoop maximizes the rich resonance and response inherent in the shell. Copper is slightly darker than brass, and the sound, which is softer and has an emphasis on the mid-range frequencies, is glossy and deep, similar to a wooden shell. The attack is sufficient but not harsh on the ear, and it has a thick, enveloping tone.

The extremely high shell vibration performance results in a very rich resonance from the drum itself. From the vibration of the drumhead to the resonance of the bottom head and the response of the snare wire, the entire sequence of movements works smoothly in coordination, faithfully reproducing the nuances of the performer, from delicate pianissimo to powerful fortissimo.

The snare wires employ the traditional "Classic Wire-Wound Silk Snares." The crisp response and appropriately controlled overtones clearly express the articulation of each individual strike.

Furthermore, the shell is finished with traditional nickel coating, and the parts are finished with copper for added accent, creating a warmth and individuality unique to handmade instruments. This is a meticulously crafted instrument that seamlessly blends the aesthetics of classic Dresdner with modern playability.
