Kanile'a Ukulele, based in Kaneohe, Oahu, Hawaii, was founded in the late 1990s by President Joe and his wife Christine. Their unique manufacturing process, which combines the best aspects of cutting-edge technology with traditional handmade techniques, including the use of bridge pins, a uniquely modified three-line fan bracing system, and UV coating, results in a distinctive sound unlike any other manufacturer. It features an all-solid koa body top and back, mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard and bridge, and geared tuners. Its size and volume make it the most popular shape. The headstock has a later-added abalone inlay in the shape of a turtle, giving it a striking appearance. While there are some minor dents on the top and bridge, the instrument is in overall good condition and plays well.
