One of the earliest commercially produced Apple II MIDI interfaces — first generation Passport Designs A-001, © 1983, Made in USA (Menlo Park, California). Removed from a long-stored single-owner Apple IIe setup.

Passport Designs was the pioneering company in Apple II music software and hardware. Their MIDI Interface A-001 predates nearly all Apple II MIDI competition and was sold alongside their landmark MIDI/8 Plus sequencer software — the first serious MIDI sequencer available for the Apple II. In 1983–84 this setup was used in professional studios to sequence Roland Jupiter-8, Juno-60, and Yamaha DX7 synthesizers.

COMPLETE THREE-CONNECTOR MIDI HARNESS The most important detail: all three MIDI connectors are present and original — MIDI IN, MIDI OUT, and MIDI THRU. This harness is most commonly found incomplete, with one or more connectors missing or replaced. Finding a complete original harness is genuinely uncommon.

CONDITION Very good physical condition. All chips present, original and seated. PCB clean with no visible corrosion or damage. Edge connector in good condition. Complete three-connector MIDI harness intact. Untested — sold as-is due to age. Standard caveat for vintage expansion cards of this era.

COMPATIBILITY Apple II, Apple II Plus, Apple IIe — expansion slot card only. Not compatible with Apple Mac, PC, or any modern computer.
