Antonio Strad 15” Viola

Founded three decades ago (1994) and named for the famed violin maker Antonio Stradivari, Antonio Strad Violin quickly grew to become one of the largest string instrument shops in Texas. Their love of fine stringed instruments and their knowledge of quality has created a selection dubbed a “Texas Treasure” in the state. The staff at Antonio Strad is highly educated and knowledgeable in all aspects of string instruments from classically trained luthiers, professional instructors, an experienced appraiser and buyer who travels the world studying and finding fine instruments, a professional performer in the symphony working right in our workshop, and a violin maker and restorer trained at the Violin Making School of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music who has been sought after for his expert repairs and restorations for over two decades.

Professional violas in the Antonio Strad catalog are a choice selection of first-rate instruments demonstrating masterful quality. Each is handmade and set up in San Antonio, Texas by formally trained luthiers. Their years of viola-making and performance experience mean that every part of our professional violas is made from only the best materials and components available, with seasoned performers in mind. Beginning with aged woods selected specifically for only our finest instruments, a hand-carved French bridge, a distinctive warm finish, and finalized with a handpicked set of strings, the completed viola is one of outstanding craftsmanship that can match your skill with its rich and complex tone.
