Now available on consignment, a 2010 Vox AC15HW1X hand wired combo.

This amplifier is part of Vox’s hand-wired reissue range, re-introducing the company’s classic models with their original “point-to-point” hand wiring, unlike earlier re-issues. This model was manufactured in Vietnam, with the standard complement of 3x 12AX7’s, 2x EL84’s, and one EZ81 rectifier tube. Powering a 12 inch Celestion “blue” alnico speaker.

This amp features the original layout, with a “normal” channel, with standard high & low inputs, as well as a bright switch, as well as the popular “top-boost” channel, also featuring high & low inputs, and a “hot/cool” gain switch.

Additionally, the master volume section features a bypass switch, allowing you to skip the master volume stage. Helpfully Vox have also added a power switching mode, allowing you to halve the power output of the amp to 7.5 watts, more suitable for practice/bedroom usage.

Modifications to this amp extend as far as the changing of two 12AX7’s.

Cosmetically, as expected, this amp is essentially untouched, no scratching or scuffing, grille cloth in perfect condition. One caveat being the lack of inclusion of the foot-switch that allows you to turn on the “hot” mode of the top boost channel.

Otherwise this is a fresh-faced, very capable amp, dynamic and powerful, suitable for the home or the stage.
