Restored Marantz 2252
These were only made for one year in 1977.
Great, natural sounding unit.
This unit was restored with new LED's, changed out suspect caps, and cleaned out all pots. Unit is ready for another 40 years of great tunes.
The Marantz 2252 and its revised version, the Marantz 2252B, are highly regarded solid-state stereo receivers produced between 1977 and 1980. Often called the "sweet spot" of the Marantz 22xx lineup, this model is prized for balancing sufficient power with the "warm, musical" sound signature typical of 1970s analog audio.

Usage and Maintenance Tips
- Speaker Pairing: With 52 watts per channel, it easily drives most vintage high-efficiency speakers.
- Service History: Because these units are over 45 years old, experts strongly recommend recapping (replacing original electrolytic capacitors) to address sound degradation or "black fuzz disease" on transistor legs.
- Pricing: In today's market, serviced or restored units often range from $1,100 to $2,000, while unserviced units may be found for less but will likely require professional maintenance. Retailers like Reverb and eBay are common marketplaces for these units.
