Martin / 2002 000-28EC
"Eric Clapton's Masterpiece"
Eric Clapton, known for his classic songs like "Tears in Heaven" and "Change the World," is considered one of the world's three greatest guitarists. The Martin 000-28EC, released in 1996, is an essential companion and trademark for his performances and tours. While it has influenced many fans both in Japan and overseas, the 000-28EC is also a coveted guitar, and many have dreamed of playing those classic songs on a Clapton model.
—A signature model brimming with Eric Clapton's attention to detail
The 000-size body is crafted from spruce and features an amber-colored finish that evokes the look of a vintage guitar. In addition to the finish, the body is accentuated with white binding and herringbone trim. The herringbone pattern also appears on the rosette, suggesting a nod to the 000-28 from the 1930s and 1940s.
The tortoiseshell pickguard further enhances the guitar's authentic look.
The sides and back are made of straight-grained Indian rosewood. The back strip features a zigzag pattern.
The fingerboard is made of ebony, and diamond and square inlays shine against the black fretboard. This is also an inlay found on models from the 1930s and 1940s. Eric Clapton's signature is inlaid at the 20th fret.
The bridge, like the fingerboard, is made of ebony, but it has a short saddle. This suggests that the design was influenced in part by the short saddles of his first guitar, the 1966 000-28 (a Mike Longworth custom model), and the 1974 000-28 he's owned since around 1976.
The mahogany neck, arguably this guitar's most distinctive feature, features a slightly thick V-shape. This neck shape is perhaps an essential element of his playing. A strap pin has been added to the neck heel.
The rosewood-veneered headstock features a classic Martin logo decal and an angular head shape reminiscent of the 1930s and 1940s.
The tuning machines feature open-back pegs engraved with the Martin logo, and butter bean buttons add an authentic look.
The end pin hole has been enlarged. While the standard pickup diameter is approximately 7.5mm, this guitar's diameter is approximately 13mm, suggesting it was used with a pickup installed. Therefore, this guitar is also recommended for those who want to install a new pickup and play.
What do you think?
The Martin 000-28EC boasts impeccable playability and quality, making it a great choice not only for enthusiasts but also as a main guitar. Don't miss this opportunity to try this guitar out.
