A real case queen. I bought this when I lived in Japan. As I'm writing this, it has occurred to me that this has never ever been outside the roof anywhere I have resided in, except until now! And honestly-honestly, seeing this outside and looking at the smartphone pics, it does make me wonder if I should keep it. But then I realise again why - one of my Corgis had emergency back surgery in Dec, and I have a long way to go paying off that medical bill... Sigh.

Back to the guitar, 2014 is honestly a great year, specs-wise, for these Historics. They come equipped with unpotted Custom Bucker pickups, and these can really compete with plenty of boutique pickups that go for that warm, treble-y resonance. Crank it up and you get to a sound that you would expect - 'that' growl. I wish I had kept a screenshot of the website listing for this, as it had the pickups' specs/ohms and guitar weight. From a vague memory, these Custom Buckers are wound low (around 7.2 and 8.3), and weigh under 5 kg (I think it was 4.6 kg). It is a solid mahongany body that is not weight relieved, with a beautiful carved maple top. Gibson have equipped these with their remade Bumblebee capacitors, another detail that harks back to the real '59 Les Pauls. The Indian Rosewood fretboard is a rich, dark chocolate, with some medium-dark marbling. There are a lot more 2014 reissue specs online that I can expand on here, from the hot hide glue used like the orginal 59s, the old vintage style Aniline dye, the plastics that went into the Kluson tuning keys/ pickup rings/pick guard, and many more...but it's gonna get pretty long.

Wrapping it up, the classic Lipton case comes Gibson Custom badged and wouldn't be the same if it didn't come with case candy. From the Gibson's owner's manual, warranty card, certification book, swing tags, case key. And it still has that new car smell because it's been a total case queen.

This even comes with a nifty set of Schaller strap locks. The beauty about my mod is that I got my go-to luthier in Japan to make the Schaller screw holes bigger so that it still uses the original screw, and it goes right back in, original screw and hole unmodded. The original strap buttons are in a little bag should you wish to keep it stock.

So, there you have it. It's lovely. And honestly, I'm thinking you already knew that from the first impression. And it sounds as good as you're already imagining right now.

Oh, and I should mention that my Corgi is not included in this sale lmao - just a cameo.

One other thing, I noticed that there's a few watchers on this item - I encourage you to send me your offers. We may be able to work something out.
