With the cooperation of Steve Gadd, the world's top drummer, the new Recording Custom pursues maximum sound quality improvement to achieve better sound. The thin shell of North American birch 6-ply uses a bearing edge of 30°/R1.5 and a sharp angle shape. Realizes a clear and attack tone with excellent response. Featuring newly designed and heavier high-tension lugs, it adds crisp sustain to a thick, coherent sound. Recording Custom, which can be said to be the origin of Yamaha System Drums, has evolved into a model that is ideal for modern recording environments, and brings out the potential of drummers in a wide range of situations.
(Development cooperation by Mr. Steve Gadd)
About three years ago, the Yamaha drum design and development team asked him to revive the Recording Custom. I told the Yamaha drum team that I wanted the new Recording Custom to be an advanced model in every aspect.
We have been developing a bass drum with a thick core, a shell that responds quickly when attached to a wide variety of drum heads, and a snare drum with a simple design and wide tuning range. I was. We pursued sound quality improvement to the maximum with the new recording custom, and we achieved it. I'm sure you'll like it.
(Newly designed high tension lug)
The design of the high tension lug, which can be said to be a symbol of the recording custom, has been renewed. Refined while retaining traditional elements, the weight of the lugs has been increased to preserve the tight, low-mid resonance of birch. Unnecessary overtones are cut without using muting, and powerful volume is achieved with a sharp and coherent sound.
(Using 100% North American Birch)
Made with 100% North American birch. In addition to the mid-low range and powerful sound peculiar to birch wood, the newly designed high-tension lug is also effective in reducing overtones that do not require it. Each hit by the drummer is expressed as a clear and crisp sound. The new Recording Custom has evolved into the perfect model for today's recording environment.
(30°/R1.5 bearing edge processing)
30°/R1.5 is used for bearing edge processing. During development, sound checks were performed at various edge angles, thoroughly pursuing a crisp and clear sound. The combination of birch wood, which has a wide tuning range, and a sharp edge angle, achieves quick response and high tuning performance even when a wide variety of drumheads are attached.
(coated head specification)
Ambassador coated heads are standard equipment on the tom-toms and floor toms. (The bass drum has a Power Stroke 3-coated head.) It maximizes the core and thick sound of the shell body.
