This model was made between 1992-2006 originally made as a sister model of the J-200 but with alternative back woods like bulbinga and mahogany, but a few like this one escaped the Gibson factory with the prized flamed maple back and sides and the finger board inlays, so it's like a J-200 with a more modest mustache bridge.
This is a great sounding one and so has been played and gigged with to high heaven and back, so it's punching well above its weight in mileage for those chasing tone over case queenage. It has a pickup along with a Hiscox flight case. No cracks, no issues, just crazy laquer checking and play wear.
Maple j-200s sound better the more they're played in - Maple is a hard wood and new ones are tight and small sounding with little low end. This one has been heavily played and so sounds warm and has that vintage vibrance thing going on combined with the extreme clarity you'd expect from maple. So a good option for those wanting the vintage sound within budget. Demo in South Melbourne.
