The Roland JD-800 is a distinctive 61-key digital synthesizer known for its extensive hands-on controls and highly programmable architecture. Unlike many digital synthesizers of its era, the JD-800 puts a large number of synthesis parameters directly on the front panel, using dedicated sliders and controls for an experience more reminiscent of an analog synthesizer.

The JD-800 uses internal ROM-based waveforms that can be combined and shaped into complex sounds, with multimode filters, envelopes, effects, and extensive editing capabilities.
