This handmade ukulele is crafted in Kyoto by Hideaki Urabe and his son, Naohiro. This particular instrument is a "Big Tenor" size, famously favored by ukulele player Ryo Nadoyama. It features a Hawaiian koa body, Honduran mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard and bridge, abalone rosette, Grover gear tuners, and a slotted headstock. The neck has a slightly thinner, easier-to-grip shape characteristic of Urabe ukuleles, and the zero fret design makes playing in the lower positions exceptionally easy. The 14-fret joint also contributes to excellent playability. Slightly larger than a typical tenor model, and with a longer scale length, it offers high volume and stability, making it ideal for solo ukulele playing. While it might be slightly challenging for those with small hands, its exceptional precision as an instrument means that, once mastered, it will become a perfect companion.
