Steve’s Notes: see the video! I’m a sucker for these!! Just purchased. Fully original silver sparkle Ludwig Blue Note kit pre-serial with COB rims. (Circa early 60s). 8x12, 8x12, 16x16, 16x18, 14x22, 14x22, 5x14, 6” & 8” bongos, canister throne. And, also a perfectly matching pre serial 9x13 . The 13 has the first appearance of the L arm style tom bracket as used on the floor tom and for spurs and cymbal arm. The two 12s have the original clip mount as shown. This transition to the L arm-style bracket from the clip mount took place at this time. Will sell the 13 separately since it was not part of the original set but was added just shortly after. Rest of the set stays intact. Won’t separate other than the 13. Canister throne top has some splits which is normal. Price is for the entire kit including the 13. Keep in mind that these sets were extremely revolutionary at the time. This is WAY before double bass rock kits became the norm. (See the ad from the 1962 catalog. These were $1000 back then! That would equal $11,000 today!!!). This is way before you started seeing Ginger Baker and many others using these configurations. Louie Bellson was using double bass drums in a big band jazz setting back into the early 50s, but these weren’t prominent in rock until much later. Funny thing: The model name “Blue Note” is actually more attuned to jazz than rock, since The Blue Note is one of the oldest and most famous jazz clubs in the world. This set was extremely well cared for. Even has some of the original heads. I picked this up from the person who has had this in storage for about 14 years. I can’t wait to do video on this. I do love these. I have a red sparkle and I once had a gold sparkle (that I NEVER should have sold, since that is my favorite color!!)
International shipping is only an estimate since this will be VERY expensive due to sizes and the number of drums. Contact us in advance with your address for an exact quote.
